Colorado State University-Pueblo’s national championship football team is Pueblo proud. So is Miss Rodeo Colorado Marie Kidd, championship cowboy Casey Coletti, Kacee Willbanks, model and stuntwoman, and actress Rose Siggins.
On Monday, the local celebrities were all proud to celebrate Pueblo and, in particular, the long legacy of St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center as part of the hospital’s kickoff of its “We are Pueblo Proud” campaign. The promotion officially kicked off Sunday with a series of advertisements in The Pueblo Chieftain, promoting the great things about Pueblo and St. Mary-Corwin’s long tradition of serving the residents of the community.
“We’ve been here for 132 years, we’ve been a part of this rich legacy that is Pueblo,” said St. Mary-Corwin spokeswoman Rochelle Kelly Wristen. “To serve the community, you have to know it, understand it and live it,” Kelly Wristen said. “We know our community and we want to show how proud we are of it through our ‘We are Pueblo Proud’ campaign.” The hospital hosted a number of local celebrities for a meet-and-greet Monday where St. Mary-Corwin associates, physicians, staff members, volunteers and community members had the opportunity to get their pictures taken with the celebrities and obtain their autographs.
Siggins, who is featured on this season’s “American Horror Story,” proudly posed for photographs with fans who stopped by to chat with her about the show. “I came to give you a hug,” Liz Chase Jones, a registered nurse at St. Mary-Corwin, told Siggins as she gave her a tight embrace. “I’ve known Rose from her just being out and about in the community. She’s a Pueblo celebrity.” Siggins said she was honored to have been asked to participate in the hospital’s campaign.
CSU-Pueblo football head coach John Wristen said he was proud to be a part of the hospital’s campaign. “Part of our mission statement is to give back,” Wristen said. “This is a great opportunity to give back to the community that we are glad to be a part of. We are Pueblo proud.”
